Emozioni.
Sono le emozioni che guidano le nostre vite.
E cosa più di una fotografia riassume il concetto di emozione?
La fotografia ci invita ad aprire gli occhi e ci insegna non a vedere ma a guardare, a sentire e non a pensare.
Da cosa nasce il desiderio di fotografare? Dal bisogno di conservare un momento, per non dimenticare quell’emozione che si sta vivendo: esprimere attraverso un’immagine quello che a parole molto spesso è difficile rendere.
Ho sempre amato le fotografie: catturare un attimo e renderlo eterno ma ogni volta diverso.
Ecco il vero senso dell’immagine e la sua intrinseca differenza con il filmato.
La fotografia stimola il processo dell’interpretazione soggettiva dove invece il video mostra come si è svolto effettivamente quel momento: suggestione vs. realtà.
E tutti noi, alla fin fine, aspiriamo al fascino dell’evocativo che ci astragga, seppur per un momento, dal disincanto realistico.
E’ la differenza che passa tra l’acqua del mare e la sua rappresentazione fatta da un pittore impressionista: quello che toglie in precisione guadagna in atmosfera.
Ecco il vero senso della Fotografia Fine Art: un lavoro artistico che rifletta la visione estetica ed il gusto del fotografo e che ben si differenzia da quella commerciale, il cui fine ultimo è invece la realizzazione di un “prodotto” per clienti.
Fotografo per me stesso ma con il desiderio di riuscire a trasmettere negli altri le stesse emozioni che provo io.
Ti accorgi di stare facendo quello che ti piace solo quando realizzi lo scorrere del tempo impiegato.
Quante cene saltate per aspettare l’ora blu; quante ore di sonno perso per fotografare le stelle; quanti chilometri macinati nella jungla urbana attirato da un’architettura futuristica; quanta fatica per scalare quella scoscesa salita alpina dove si apre una vista mozzafiato sulla valle; quante levatacce per catturare quella sontuosa alba.
Quando fotografo non esiste fame, sonno, stanchezza.
Ogni sforzo trova la sua ricompensa nel senso di appagamento dato dal riuscire a cogliere un emozione.
Non voglio avere il rimpianto di aver perso un momento unico ed irripetibile.

Emotions.
Emotions drive our lives.
What most than a pic sums up the meaning of the word emotion?
Photography makes us open our eyes and teaches us how to look at something instead of just seeing it, how to feel it instead of just thinking.
Where does the desire to photograph come from? From the need to seize the occasion not to miss a particular emotion, in the attempt to express through a picture what is hard to convey in words.
I have always loved photographs: they seize the moment and make it last forever, despite being always different.
That is the real meaning of a photograph and its inner difference compared to a footage.
Photography entices us to give a subjective interpretation, whereas a video depicts the raw reality as it is.
Eventually, everybody wishes to escape from reality, even for a brief moment, and to dive into a dreamy world.
That is exactly the Impressionists’ approach: less realism but more vibe.
That is Fine Art Photography: an artwork reflecting the taste and aesthetic sense of the photographer instead of being a “good” manufactured for customers.
I take pics for my own pleasure, always trying to convey my own emotions to the viewer of my photographs.
You know you are doing something you like when you do not even notice the time go by.
I skipped so many dinners to catch the blue hour and spent so many hours awake stargazing to capture a few nightshots. I walked through the concrete jungle for so many miles attracted by some weird futuristic building, won so many struggles to climb that steep mountain just to enjoy a breathtaking view, and went through so many early risings to capture a majestic dawn.
No hunger, no need to sleep, no weariness: whenever I take photographs I live in a parallel universe.
Every effort is rewarded when I manage to bring an emotion out of a pic.
I do not want to regret missing a unique and once-in-a-lifetime moment.
